Revamp Your Instagram Presence In 4 Steps

Top Social Media Management Firm - Be Inspired PR

As we approach the end of 2020, it’s time to start thinking about how you’ll make the next year your best business year yet. Your resident social media experts are here to help! When your marketing budget is tight, we always recommend going all-in on your social media strategy. Instagram can be a free advertising platform for your business if you use it well. If you’re ready to revamp your Instagram presence and start 2021 off on the right foot, read on for the 4 steps to you’ll need to take!

Step #1: Update Your Instagram Profile Photo

Your profile photo avatar is more important than you think! It’s the small photo that will be associated with your brand on your followers’ feeds, their highlights on the home page, and on your account page. In other words, it’s everywhere, so you need to make it great! We typically recommend a scaled-down version of your logo in your unique brand color palette. Because it’s so small, it’s important to make sure it’s readable and recognizable as your account. Here’s an example of a strong profile avatar!

In short, choose something that pops and will instantly associate your posts with your brand.

Step #2: Write A Bio That Converts

Another small detail that’s often overlooked on your profile! Aim to answer the below questions in your bio:

  1. What do you do?

  2. Where are you located?

  3. Why should I work with you?

  4. How can I get in touch with you?

You only have 150 characters, so keep it short, sweet, and impactful. The goal is for your bio to convince followers to head to your website or request more info about your services. You can also infuse some of your brand voice into your bio with emojis and in your “why” statement. Here’s an example of a strong Instagram bio that’s short but convincing:

Step #3: Upgrade Your Social Media Graphics

Upgrading your Instagram post and story graphics is hands down the quickest way to upgrade your overall presence on the platform. We usually recommend switching up your templates every 6 months or so, since followers can start to tune out if they get “used to” a certain format. Keep things exciting by giving them a whole new graphic to catch their attention! Here’s an example of how fresh graphics can change the whole feel of your account:

Last but certainly not least, if you’re revamping your Instagram page, don’t leave out your highlights! We always tell our social media clients that your Instagram highlights should be a miniature version of your website. If you’re stuck on what to include, try having a highlight for each page on your website! A few ideas include:

  • About Me

  • Behind The Scenes

  • What We Offer

  • Accolades

  • Our Portfolio
